Small Shrimp Feed Pellet Mill Project in Ecuador
The customer was a new shrimp feed manufacturer in Ecuador. RICHI recommended the SZLH250 pellet mill process, with a capacity of 0.4 t/h. The customer is a local shrimp farming cooperative that uses soybean meal, fish meal, and rice bran purchased locally. RICHI provided suitable conditioning parameters based on the customer’s production requirements. The finished pellets sank quickly and remained intact in water for up to 24 hours.
The customer reported a noticeable increase in shrimp feed intake and a production cycle that was nearly one week shorter.
Application: Juvenile and adult Pacific white shrimp farming
Solution: A standalone SZLH350 machine was used for the initial project to keep investment and operation simple. The system can later be expanded into a complete production line. A three-layer conditioner helps improve pellet water stability.

Commercial Shrimp Feed Pellet Mill Project in Egypt
The customer is a large aquatic feed processing group in Egypt. Its main raw materials include locally sourced barley, wheat bran, and sunflower meal. RICHI supplied an SZLH768 feed pellet mill and integrated it into the customer’s existing production line, which reached a capacity of 8 t/h.
The machine supports flexible combinations of grains and protein ingredients. For different product requirements, RICHI supplied three ring die specifications. By changing the ring die, the customer can produce 1/1.5/ 3 mm shrimp feed pellets. RICHI also helped set suitable compression ratio parameters.
The customer can now use the machine to produce Pacific white shrimp, tilapia, and European sea bass feed. The feed formula can be switched between shrimp and fish feed according to production needs, allowing one machine to handle multiple products.

What is the difference between a shrimp feed pellet mill and a feed extruder? Which one is right for me?

A prawn feed machine uses steam conditioning, roller compression, and ring die forming to produce dense pellets. It is mainly used for sinking shrimp feed. A feed extruder uses high temperature, pressure, and shear to expand the material. It is more commonly used for floating or slow-sinking aquatic feed.
If your main product is sinking shrimp feed and you need good water stability and suitable sinking performance, a ring die pelletizer is usually the better choice. If you plan to produce floating aquatic feed, the right equipment depends on the product type, formula, and processing method. How do I choose the right shirimp feed manufacturing machine model?

Can I use a shrimp feed pellet mill to produce fish feed? How do I switch between them?

Yes. With a suitable feed formula and equipment configuration, this machine can also produce some types of sinking fish feed and other aquatic pellet feeds.
When switching between shrimp and fish feed, you typically need to change the ring die according to the required pellet size. You may also need to adjust the formula, conditioning parameters, and pelletizing settings. The Egyptian customer mentioned earlier uses the same pellet mill for both shrimp and fish feed and switches products by changing ring dies with different specifications.
Why does my shrimp feed have poor water stability and make the pond water cloudy?

Poor water stability does not necessarily mean there is a problem with the pellet mill. Feed formulation, particle size, steam conditioning, ring die compression ratio, and pelletizing parameters can all affect the final pellet structure and water stability.
If the pellets break apart quickly in water, first check whether the ingredients have been ground finely enough and whether the formula is properly balanced. Then check the conditioning temperature, steam addition, and material retention time. For sinking shrimp feed that requires longer water stability, you can also use a multi-layer conditioner and add a post-curing machine according to the product requirements.
How much does your shrimp feed pellet mill cost? Does the price include shipping?

The smallest standard machine starts at about US$7,500. The shrimp feed pellet machine price depends mainly on the machine model, production capacity, main machine configuration, conditioning system, and other optional equipment. Therefore, prices vary between projects.
